Great RV Forum

If you are looking for a Friendly and informative RV Forum I highly recommend:

This is our Introduction Post on the Forum.

WOW. I have been to many RVer Blogs and Forum Boards over the last year our so. Once I found “RV Dreams” I knew my search was over. So I guess I have been a “Lurker” the last couple months and have now decided to jump in with 2 feet.

I look forward to getting to know everybody better, Learn about New Campgrounds to visit, how to maintain our pride and joy and so much more. I even hope I can offer some advice every now and again.

Our plan is to retire at the end of 2014 and try to spend about 4 months a year on the road. We will hang on to our House until we find a place “Where the Weather Suits our Soul”! We may try Full Timing for a few years after our youngest (17 years Old) decides where she will be in a few years.

Our first long trip we covered 7 States in just over 2 weeks. Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, and CA. Its a great trip. One Denise and I will never forget.

Thanks for starting this great Forum for us to share our Dreams and meet people who share the same type of Dreams. I also love the Mobile version of your Forum I have saved it to the front page of my iPhone and iPad!

Well Done, Thanks for have us looking forward to meeting some RVers!

Our Longest Trip Yet - Part 2

Day 3 - Arriving in Coeur D Alene!

Before Leaving Kennewick, WA http://www.columbiasunrvresort.com Columbia RV Resort. We took a few pictures and pulled out around 9am. Next stop Coeur D Alene, ID. Not a bad drive at all the roads we very easy. We made it to the State Line by noon.

How do we know what time we arrived? Thats the cool part of using an iPhone and iPhoto. All the information is available from each picture taken along the way. Here is a screen shot of my iPhoto Library showing how easy it is to get the information:

OK Back to the trip by 1:30pm were were at our camp all set up. Here is Paul and I enjoying a fresh cup of coffee. Looking back sure we could have made it with just one overnight stay. However we were both glad we stayed in Washington. We were better rested and much more relaxed.

We stayed at our camp for a couple hours before heading out to an early diner. Then went to see "Post Falls"

Time for a Good Laptop? RV Tech 101 Article #1

American RVers - RV Tech 101 - Episode #1

As you may have figured out by now I am a Apple Geek. Ever since 2007 I went all in. I left the Windows platform when Vista came out. Also the fact that Apple switched to intel processors in there new Macs.

Bottom line is these days you need some type of computer while you are in you RV. It makes your life so much easier. Being able to pay bills, monitor whats happening in and around your home with live web cams, Keeping in touch with friends via E-mail, Skype, Facebook, iPhoto Streams and so much more.

As we continue thru this "Mini Series" RV Tech 101 I will do my best to help you make an educated decision.

Another reason for switching was the release of the iPhone that alone was really all I needed to make the switch complete.

So if your on the road and are experiencing frustration with your old windows computer I would seriously consider swathing to a Mac. During this article i will try to help you have a better understanding of what Apple has to offer these days. I understand it can be confusing. Making the right choice is important to make sure you get all you can from your new computer.

Lets talk a little bit about what machine best suits your needs. Rather than spending a ton of time typing out all of my thoughts on this subject. I am going to record a Podcast and link it right here. Its amazing how much more information you can share with using Audio Recordings (Podcasts) and Video Recordings (ScreenCasts).

But lets have a look at some of the basics when considering your new purchase. Mac Computers have always had a bad wrap for being over priced. However, its the old you get what you pay for. The Mac being more expensive is also a bit of a myth. Yes, you will pay about $200 to $400 more for a Mac, but after we talk through this you will see that its almost a wash. Windows Machines do not come with the most impotent software Microsoft Office ($199. to $499.) depending on which one you get. Also you will never have to buy "Anti-Virus" software or send it in to the Geek Squad for $200. repairs.

Ok moving on to why are you buying this computer?

  • Pictures

If your like most of us you have a digital camera and possibly a smartphone which is one of the best digital cameras made today. Bottom line here is you need a fast reliable computer to off load those pictures from your digital camera to your computer.

  • Keeping in touch with Family and Friends
This is something I see to much of these days. Folks with computers, tablets and/or smart phones without using services like iMessage, iCloud Photo Sharing, FaceTime, etc.

The Technology is now here, technology that we used to dream about is now here and real. Denise and I were having a blast sharing our trip with family and friend on Instagram and Facebook.

During our 2 week 2600 mile journey to Montana we took over 2000 pictures and well over 100 videos. Each night i would dump my photos. This would take several hours just a few years ago. With todays new Macbook computers i was able to download pictures from 3 different camera each day with in less that an hour each evening.

  • Taking care of Business

Things like online banking, e-mailing your doctor, signing paperwork. These days all this can be done so easy online. We were right in the middle of ReFi on our trip and handled everything with my iPhone.

So know that we have a bit of an idea of what a new computer can do for ya. Lets take a break. Also I want to record an audio podcast possible tomorrow to add to our RV Tech Mini Series.

I hope you are enjoying learning about all the things computers can do for RVers thanks to 2014's 4G LTE Network. Please let me know if you have any questions or ideas about this new segment. E-mail me at yourmacshow@gmail.com.

Thanks Dennis
